Anybody can upload them to the public Steam Workshop directory. The game was originally designed to make it easy for users to develop and share modifications. In fact, any player who seriously enjoys Cities: Skylines, will eventually start experimenting with mods. Unofficial modifications expand the game even more. It may be buildings (you can now build an airport of your own design), natural phenomena, development scenarios (“green” city), and so on. Each of these expansions adds new elements to the virtual world. Instead of releasing a new series, the creators of Cities: Skylines preferred an approach with gradual modification of the original game, releasing official expansion packs about every six months. Cities: Skylines was released in 2015 - quite a long time ago by standards of the ever-changing online world, but fans are unlikely to be scared by this. The population of the city is too low?ħ.Cities: Skylines is a competitor and in some ways a successor to the famous SimCity series from the 1990s and 2000s, whose history (so far) ended with a failed release in 2013. My airport has an office/commercial area next to it. Is my airport still too close to the map edge?ĥ. Did I overconnect the airport with metro, buses and trains, so there is no demand for it?Ĥ. Wind turbines are the bane of all things flying, are they stopping aircraft from arriving safely?ģ. I'd also imagine tourists would require commercial, but I actually have no idea.ġ. I suppose there could be low demand for tourism, but I've build a number of tourism buildings which are connected to the airport via public transport. I can think of a number of possible problems, but the game gives me no feedback as to what could be wrong. I assumed it would do nothing, but I also maxed the budget of the airport just in case. I also bulldozed all trees near (and on) the runway. I flipped my airport 90 degrees expecting some kind of map edge issue, but that didn't help. Meanwhile my population growth flatlined at 69k. I've now spent a couple of years waiting for the first passengers to arrive, but nothing has happened. After reaching the required 65k population, I immediately set up my first airport.
